SELENITE

Selenite is a form of gypsum crystal. It is quite soft and is water soluble. It is a calcium sulfate mineral. Too soft to be used in jewelry, it is collected for specimens. This crystal was dug from a claylike hill in western Arizona. It is often clear enough to read through.
